Here’s a little something I wrote for my own Mama.
She taught me the best paths are usually rough, uncharted and sometimes upstream. She has healed herself of wounds that most ignore and allow to fester.. wounds that are usually passed on to the next generation so no one can escape hurt. She asks forgiveness from no one and instead forgave herself so she did not ferment her womb. She cleansed it so her daughters could be born free of the pain of the past. She spoke love and kindness into the meals she made to help make us good on the inside. She braided strength into our hair every morning (topped with a bow for good measure) and dressed us in matching armor. She is power, a force of nature herself. She is a storm that birthed hail and hurricanes.
Create and Collaborate: The Workshop is a project that is very close to my heart. Today was our very first Shoot the Shit event, and let me tell you. My cup runneth over. We appreciate all of those who came out to STS with us, I was able to meet so many creatives in our area today I hadn't met before and hangout with some of my local faves! None of this would have been possible without all of the amazing individuals and vendors who came together to make this day happen. I absolutely CANNOT wait until our next event.

“I find beauty in the grotesque, like most artists.” - Alexander McQueen
"There is something sinister, something quite biographical about what I do - but that part is for me. It's my personal business. I think there is a lot of romance, melancholy. There's a sadness to it, but there's romance in sadness. I suppose I am a very melancholy person." - Alexander McQueen
Are you fragile, like a birds neck? Are you strong and transparent like glass? Are you a home, or are you hollow? Allow yourself the grace to be all of them, at some point.
“glass will cut
you every day, and
sometimes you will
crawl through hell
to feel the sun.”
― Ben Ditmars

It is with incredible honor that I present this shoot to the public. SPECTRUM was conceived out of a desire to bring the women of our community together, to stand in power side by side and bridge the gaps within our own circles. Spectrum represents a marriage of art and women's empowerment through fashion and diversity.
At the beginning of March, a vision was created. Morgan and I reached out to the women of west Tennessee, in search of particularly Women of Color. There was an overwhelming response and the result even more so.
There is this innate need within my soul that calls me to create. Recently, that need has been paired with this urgency and drive to create a community for all artists here in West TN. I want to create what was not available to me when I moved here 6 years ago. I want to blaze the trail, cross aisles, and work with all types of individuals in the name of fellowship. I want young/old creatives to feel the passion within their own hearts and know that there are people here who can appreciate and understand all different forms of art. I want every person who been called weird, strange, eccentric to know that there are others like them. HERE. I create on the behalf of all my fellow misfits.
There is much to do, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. (Thanks Dad for that quote many years ago..)
A small collection of faces, places and the stories in between.
Nothing sets my soul ablaze quite like love.
The first time I photographed Rachel, I got a sense of how important her family was to her. I love hearing my clients (lets get real, FRIENDS) family history and legacies too. Rachel told me that her daughter Daisy and her Great-Grandfather share the same birthday, at 90+ years apart. When she told me that, I knew I had to photograph them together.
The Moore family so graciously opened up their home to me, fed me and made me feel loved the entire time I did this session. It was an absolute honor to capture these images, we often don't get the chance to or forget how important these little snapshots in time are.
A collection of: skies, things that are dead, things that are alive, hands and feet, bones with meat, plastic that’s burned.. things that stink.
It would be wrong of me to not include a gallery dedicated to #RichardBones himself.
Greymane is a metal core band from Jackson, TN. They are pretty fucking cool and let me tag along to concerts to photograph them.
